After being at Bumpus all of last year as a long term substitute in 7th grade, I am SO excited to be here in a permanent position in 8th grade. This will be my first year teaching Language Arts, as I have always taught Social Studies in the past. My husband and I are from Mobile, where I attended the University of South Alabama and he attended culinary school in Gulf Shores. After we graduated and got married, we moved to New York and lived in Manhattan for a year while he worked in the crazy restaurant scene. I worked as a nanny and taught at an enrichment summer program for middle school and high school students through the City College of New York called the Urban Scholars Program. After a year, we missed the South and relocated to Birmingham where he continued his work as a chef and I subbed for many schools until signing a one-year contract at Chelsea Middle School. After the year was over, I came back to Hoover to sub as much as I could until a spot opened up for me, and I am so grateful that it finally has here at Bumpus. Along the way we had Ezra, our fiery little red haired boy who will be three years old in November. My husband no longer works in kitchens and instead is a personal trainer and competitive gymnastics coach at Vision Gymnastics. I will also be coaching cheer this year along with Mrs. Caroline Morris, and I cannot wait to learn and grow with your students and hopefully spark a love of knowledge in them along the way!
